Vixenz Ultimate
After travelling to Australia and finishing fourth at the recent New Zealand National Champs, the Auckland women’s ultimate frisbee team, Vixens, are already developing plans for next season.
The Vixens have set up a committee with team captains, treasurer, secretary, media officer, and a couple of members at large.
Their goals for 2012 are simple: win the national champs. They’re also looking at developing ultimate frisbee in Auckland and aim to have a second team to place in the top five. Each team will have its own coach. Trials are going to be held in early December.
It’s no good having that ambition without a way to get there. With that in mind, Vixens are running women’s skills sessions on Sunday afternoons. Everyone of all skill levels are welcome. The first is on Queens Birthday Monday, 12:30 – 2:30pm, at Cox’s Bay Reserve. There are going to be seven over the winter, happening about every fortnight.
