New Zealand Ultimate is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Letteney to the position of U23 High Performance Coordinator and Clare Gibson to the position of Assistant U23 High Performance Coordinator.

These enthusiastic and capable administrators will lead the U23 programme from creation to the World Under 23 Ultimate Championships which will be held in Toronto, Canada from 22-28 July 2013.  New Zealand Ultimate is keen to build on the successes of 2012 which included sending three teams to the World Ultimate and Guts Championships in Japan, the first U19 Girls team to compete in Australia as well as sending New Zealand’s first team to the World Junior Ultimate Championships when Katipo (the U19 Boy’s team) travel to Ireland.

Peter Letteney is from Hamilton and comes from a background of  putting together Ultimate teams in the USA, having run the team at the University of Delaware.  Since moving to Hamilton, Peter works at the University of Waikato and been working with the local club team Hammertron.

Clare Gibson lives in Auckland where she combines working in event management with her passion for Ultimate.

More details will be forthcoming shortly as the campaign gets underway with calls for applications for coaches and selectors while a programme is put together to select and train the team.  Trials are likely to be conducted before Christmas, so if you are eligible for the team, get training and keep an eye on the NZU website for further details.  A specific email address will be set up, but in the meantime all queries can be sent via the NZU Board.
