NZ U19 Squad
During prizegiving at Nationals at the weekend the female U19 squad was announced. Congratulations to all those who made it, and we look forward to the male training camps coming up soon.
From National Youth High Performance Director Sarah Rice:
U19s development days were recently held in both Wellington and Auckland. These days also served as a means to select U19s squads to represent New Zealand against Australia later this year. The selectors were very impressed with the level of skill on display, and we believe that the selected girls team will compete strongly against Australia. We would like to congratulate the girls selected and look forward to seeing the squad take shape over the coming months. The squad is as follows:

Hannah Coombridge Akld
Leanne Saw Akld
Brigette Legg Akld

Due to the large number of boys interested in being selected, and the short space of time in which the selectors had to observe them, selection of a national boys’ squad will take place later in the year. In the meantime, a series of training camps will be held in each region for both trialling and non-trialling players. Representative squads will then be selected around the middle of the year for the Northern Region (Taupo North), Central Region (North Island south of Taupo) and possibly the Southern Region (South Island). A selection camp will be scheduled to allow these regional squads to play against one another, and a national team will be announced soon after.
