Auckland Secondary School Indoor Ultimate League 2013 – Boys / Girls Divisions
Stall-outs, lay-outs and greatests – action packed school league finals!
The boys and girls divisions of the 2013 Auckland Secondary School Indoor Ultimate League took place during the first seven weeks of term 3. Once again the number of teams competing swelled to a new record of 23 entries across the two divisions. New to this year’s league were Birkenhead College, Epsom Girls’ Grammar and Massey High School.

With a lot of close games throughout the league, finals night proved to be a highly competitive evening. The final of the Girls Division between Avondale College and Epsom Girls’ Grammar finished a close 6-4 to Avondale College, with incredible defence from both teams throughout the game forcing stall-outs and high pressure throws. The victory to Avondale College gave them double glory as they claimed both the 2013 Outdoor League and 2013 Indoor League titles. To top off a great season Avondale also took home the spirit prize for the Indoor League – Girls Division.
In another close contest, Alice from Epsom Girls’ Grammar won female MVP of the league.
In the boy’s final – a classic north-vs-south-of-the-bridge battle was contested between Auckland Grammar and Westlake Boys High School. AGS were clean and clinical as always, but the new look zone from WBHS threw them off their rhythm. With the clock ticking down, Jasper Linde of WBHS had a big layout block to get Westlake a break back after being down by two. Then with scores tied up on full time, Billy Armstrong of Westlake Boys performed a greatest to Ryan ‘Panda’ Greaves, busted to the zone and caught the blade pass for the win on universe point. Finals ultimate doesn’t get any better than that!

Last year’s defending champions, Pakuranga College did not go home empty handed, with Pakuranga Poseidon winning team spirit, and Jordan Tan of Pakuranga College awarded male MVP for the league.
Final league standings and team MVPs are listed below.
